Crematorium information
Hawkinge Crematorium opened in 1956 on the site of an existing cemetery. The cemetery at Hawkinge Crematorium is still used for burial services today.
The crematorium is situated on the site of an old airfield used by Spitfire and Hurricane pilots during the Battle of Britain and two of the gardens of remembrance are named after these planes. The film Battle of Britain was largely filmed at Hawkinge and the nearby Jackdaw public house.
